Cypress Construction Management is currently providing Program Management and Construction Management services to Sierra College in support of their 15 project $675 million capital improvement program. Cypress assisted the college in the development of the initial program, project budgets, master schedule and cash flow projections for the program. Additionally, Cypress worked with the College to develop their hard bid specifications as well as procurement specifications for both design-build and progressive design-build. Projects include the construction of many new facilities such as Parking Garage, New Instructional Building, Science Building, Student Housing, Public Safety Training Center and CSUS Transfer Center. Additional projects include renovation and expansion of the Gymnasium, complete replacement of all utilities campus wide and renovation of 7 other existing facilities on site.

Sierra College New Student Housing

Completion: July 2025
Project Cost: $107.4 million

As part of Cypress providing program management services for the Sierra College $675 million Facilities Improvement program, Cypress supported the College in development of the design-build scoping documents, preparation of the request for qualifications and actively participated in the selection of the design-build entity (DBE). The project is being delivered using Progressive Design-Build. Once the DBE was selected, Cypress provided oversight and management of the design process and negotiation of the Final Guaranteed Maximum Price. The $107.4 million project will provide 354 new affordable housing beds on the Rocklin campus. The project is currently in construction with Cypress providing onsite construction management and administration of the design-build contract.

Sierra College Gymnasium Renovation & Expansion

Project Cost: $59.0 million

As part of Cypress program management services for the Sierra College $675 million Facilities Improvement program, Cypress is providing construction management services for the Gymnasium Renovation and Expansion project. The Project includes the complete renovation and expansion of the existing 60-year-old gymnasium facility at the Rocklin Campus. This Project will modernize and renovate the existing gym buildings, improving the structure, fire life safety systems, efficiency, and accessibility of the complex. The renovation portion of the project is 40,786 square feet and the new gymnasium addition will be 42,152 square feet. Funding for the Project is from a combination of State funding and local District funding. The project budget is $59.0 million.

Sierra College New Instructional Building

As part of Cypress program management services for the Sierra College $675 million Facilities Improvement program, Cypress provided construction management services for the New Instructional Building. The project consists of a new four story, 84,645 sf building focused on teaching digital photography, ceramic, metalworking, sculpture, painting, woodwork and other art forms. The scope of work also includes the demolition and removal of an existing mechanical plant which contained asbestos and all associated site work. Cypress supported the College in development of the design-build scoping documents, preparation of the request for qualifications and actively participated in the selection of the design-build entity for the $69.6 million New Instructional Building.

Sierra College Infrastructure Replacement Project

Size of Project: Over 9 miles of Underground Utilities
Completed: August 2022
Project Cost: $25.6 million (6.3 million under budget)

As part of Cypress program management services for the Sierra College $675 million Facilities Improvement program, Cypress provided construction management services for the Infrastructure Replacement project. The project consisted of complete replacement of the majority of the underground utility systems throughout the college campus while the campus was occupied. The project consisted of installation of a 12kV electrical loop around the campus, along with replacement of domestic water, fire water, gas, storm drain, sewer, irrigation and communications systems throughout the campus. There were over 9 miles of conduit and pipe installed in this project as well as a new utility building that housed Internet and Fire Alarm equipment. The project budget was $31.9 million dollars with a final project cost of $25.6 million.

Sierra College Parking Garage

Size of Project: 500,000 square foot 1,500 Parking Spaces over 5 floors
Completed: June 2021 (on-schedule)
Design-Build Cost:  $43.1 million ($1.3 million under budget)

Cypress assisted the college in the development of project budgets, schedule and in the procurement of the Design-Build Entity (DBE) for a new 1,500 stall parking garage. Upon selection of the DBE, Cypress assisted the college in the management of the design process,  finalization of the GMP and complete on-site construction management and close-out with DSA. The project was completed per the original schedule developed by Cypress and $1.3 million under budget. Additionally, the project included a new Tennis Court complex along with the installation of a new domestic service and a new 12KV primary electrical service for the campus.
