As part of Cypress program management services for the Sierra College $675 million Facilities Improvement program, Cypress provided construction management services for the New Instructional Building. The project consists of a new four story, 84,645 sf building focused on teaching digital photography, ceramic, metalworking, sculpture, painting, woodwork and other art forms. The scope of work also includes the demolition and removal of an existing mechanical plant which contained asbestos and all associated site work. Cypress supported the College in development of the design-build scoping documents, preparation of the request for qualifications and actively participated in the selection of the design-build entity for the $69.6 million New Instructional Building.

Sierra College Parking Garage

Design-Build Cost:  $43.1 million ($1.3 million under budget)

Cypress assisted the college in the development of project budgets, schedule and in the procurement of the Design-Build Entity (DBE) for a new 1,500 stall parking garage. Upon selection of the DBE, Cypress assisted the college in the management of the design process,  finalization of the GMP and complete on-site construction management and close-out with DSA. The project was completed per the original schedule developed by Cypress and $1.3 million under budget. Additionally, the project included a new Tennis Court complex along with the installation of a new domestic service and a new 12KV primary electrical service for the campus.

Design-Build Cost: $236 million

Cypress principal Doug Evans, while employed by another firm, worked with the California Department of General Services on the initial planning, Design-Build procurement, GMP development and construction management for the $236 million project. The new building is part of the Department of General Service’s SPIF program for the renovation or replacement of state facilities in the downtown Sacramento area. The new 11-story, 374,000 sf building was constructed as Zero Net Energy and LEED Platinum. It uses 60 percent less water than a typical building with an EUI 24.8.

Mansour Aliabadi, principal of Cypress CM, was the principal in charge of program management services on the CHCF project which includes the design and construction of 1,722 infill beds located at the Northern California Youth Correctional Center (NCYCC). The facility is designed to provide specialized housing with necessary health care treatment for a population of seriously and chronically, medically, and mentally ill inmates consistent with state and federal requirements, and will permitted the replacement of temporary beds previously in use. The project included a Dialysis Treatment lab. The CDCR operates the new medical complex, which incorporates energy-efficient design measures and sustainable building practices (LEED Silver Cert).
